No. 21 Grenadiers Cruise Past Cincinnati Christian 106-50 Saturday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The No. 21-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team defeated Cincinnati Christian 106-50 Saturday afternoon in the Southeast Activities Building.

The Grenadiers' defense was the story of the first half. They forced 20 turnovers and held the Eagles to 28 percent shooting. The IU Southeast offense was strong as well. Darryl Bell (Louisville, Ky.) and Jazzmarr Ferguson (Louisville, Ky.) combined to score 23 of the Grenadiers' 54 first half points. Ferguson had 12 points and Bell had 11. At halftime, IU Southeast led 54-21.

The Grenadiers (13-9, 6-1 KIAC) continued to play well in the second half. IU Southeast was able to use a balanced scoring attack to maintain a large lead.

Darryl Bell led all scorers with 22 points and Ferguson finished with 19. Reggie Breeden (Louisville, Ky.) had a solid game with seven points and a career-high 10 assists. The Eagles' (7-16, 1-6 KIAC) Mohamed Fall had 20 points to lead Cincinnati Christian.

The Grenadiers shot 53 percent for the game and held the Eagles to 33 percent shooting and forced 30 turnovers.

The Grenadiers next game is a home contest against Berea. The game is part of a doubleheader with the No.21-ranked women's basketball team. The women's game tips-off at 5:30 p.m. with the men's game following at 7:30.

Ticket prices for the event are $7 for adult general admission and free of charge for children 10 years old or younger. IU Southeast Faculty, Staff and Students will be admitted FREE of charge with UCARD.
