No. 15 IU Southeast Clinches RSC West With 82-63 Win Over CCU

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Jamie Johnson scored 31 points and Joe Jackson added 14 points and eight rebounds as IU Southeast clinched the RSC West Division title with a 82-63 win over Cincinnati Christian Thursday.

The Grenadiers (20-7, 14-3 RSC) started slowly and led 35-31 at halftime. IU Southeast only made two three-point shots in the first half but used a 25-2 run to pull away midway through the opening half but the Eagles answered with a 17-4 run of the their own to close the gap.

IU Southeast only led 42-38 in the second half but put the game away with a 27-8 run to extend the lead to 69-46 with 6:44 to play.

The Grenadiers shot 46 percent from the field in the second half to seal the game.

IU Southeast outscored CCU 21-6 off of turnovers and 46-30 in the paint in the game. The Grenadiers forced 20 turnovers and held the Eagles to 29 percent shooting from behind-the-arc.

With the win, IU Southeast secures its ninth 20-win season in the last 11 years under head coach Wiley Brown.

The Grenadiers will conclude the regular season Saturday at Brescia and then will host a RSC Quarterfinal Feb. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
