MARION, Ind. - Juniors Camille Greenwell and Lauren Winchell defeated the No. 4 and No. 8 seeds in the ITA Midwest Regional tournament en route to a Round of 16 finish this weekend at Indiana Wesleyan.
Greenwell opened the tournament down 6-1, 5-2 to No. 4 seed Maria Lueken of Marian University and rallied to win the second set 7-6 (5) and took the match with a 10-4 win in the third set tiebreak. Greenwell defeated Elena Tokic of Indiana Tech 6-3, 6-1 before falling to No. 13 seed Lena Tessmer of the University of Northwestern Ohio.
Lauren Winchell rallied to defeat No. 8 seed Abigail Simms of Indiana Tech 2-6, 6-4, 10-4. Then she defeated Samantha Kohn of Lawrence Tech 6-2, 6-4 before dropping her quarterfinal match to No. 9 seed Meg Dolde of Huntington University 6-1, 6-1.
The IU Southeast tennis teams travel back to Indiana Wesleyan this weekend to take on Indiana Wesleyan, Indiana Tech and Judson University.
