CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team defeated Campbellsville 67-60 to hand the Tigers their first loss of the season.
The game began close as the teams were tied 13-13 halfway through the first half. The score remained tight until Campbellsville used a 9-0 run to close the half and go into halftime with a 41-31 lead.
Campbellsville extended their lead to 12 at 49-37 five minutes into the second half. IU Southeast then responded with a 12-0 run to tie the game at 49-49.
With the score tied at 53-53, a quick 5-0 burst gave the Grenadiers a 58-53 edge. Campbellsville then responded with a 7-0 run to swing the lead back in their favor at 60-58.
A pair of free throws tied the game at 60-60. IU Southeast then used a three with 1:24 left to take a 63-60 advantage. IU Southeast held Campbellsville scoreless for the final four minutes of the game to secure a 67-60 victory.
IU Southeast had four score in double figures in the contest.
Trent Hinkle had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Bailey Temming also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jaden Johnson had 12 points and eight rebounds, and
Camden Pfeister added 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
"Played great defensively," IU Southeast head coach
Wiley Brown said. "Out shots weren't falling but no one got disappointed, and we stayed locked in on defense. Great rebounding and toughness were the key to this win. Back to the lab!"
IU Southeast moves to 7-3 on the year. The Grenadiers return to action on Friday at Simmons College.
