MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The IU Southeast women's tennis team defeated NCAA Division III opponent Maryville College 4-3 on Sunday.
IU Southeast took the doubles point by winning at #2 and #3 Doubles.
Maci Vaughn and
Elana Hamby picked up a 6-1 win, and
Anellah Trujillo and
Sydney Adams won 6-1 as well.
The Grenadiers needed to win three of the six singles points to pick up the victory. The Grenadiers picked up a win at #2 Singles as
Maci Vaughn won 6-2, 6-1. They fell at #1 Singles as well as #4 Singles to even up the match at 2-2.
Maryville won at #3 Singles, so the Grenadiers needed to win the last two singles points to pick up the victory.
Anellah Trujillo picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #5 Singles, so it all came down to #6 Singles.
IU Southeast's
Sydney Adams picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at #6 Singles to secure the 4-3 win for the Grenadiers.
IU Southeast moves to 4-2 on the year. The Grenadiers return to action on Saturday against Brescia.
