IU Southeast Athletic Training Department
Athletic Training:
Athletic training is an essential allied health profession focused on supporting the health, safety, and performance of physically active individuals. The goal of the athletic training staff is to provide the highest level of health care to the student-athletes participating in athletics at Indiana University Southeast. This health care includes the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and management of athletic injuries or illnesses sustained during practices or games. Athletic trainers will also provide onsite coverage of practices and games. They will act as a liaison between physicians and specialists, other health care providers, and athletes. In addition, the athletic training staff will aid (within their scope of practice) and assist in the referral for nutritional and psychological needs of the student athletes.
The athletic training staff for Indiana University Southeast will provide objective and non-discriminatory services to student-athletes under the direction of a physician and in accordance with state athletic training practice and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA). They will also provide the necessary services to function as part of the Indiana University Southeast community.
