NEW ALBANY, Ind. – IU Southeast shot 55 percent from the field and hit 16 three-pointers as the Grenadiers defeated St. Mary-of-the-Woods 90-72.
Trent Hinkle had a game-high 27 points and added seven rebounds and nine assists.
Jordan Treat had 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range.
Jaden Johnson had 13 points and six rebounds,
Camden Pfeister had 11 points and
Nathaniel Hoffman added 10.
A layup by Zayvion Baker gave the Pomeroys a 24-22 lead with 6:18 to play in the first half but the Grenadiers took the lead on a three by Johnson and did not look back.
The Grenadiers closed the half on a 20-4 run aided by three-pointers Hinkle, Treat, Johnson and Pfeister.
The Grenadiers led 42-28 at halftime.
Trent Hinkle had 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the period.
In the second half, the Grenadiers continued their stellar offensive attack by shooting 61 percent from the field (17-of-28).
Camden Pfeister opened the half by hitting a three to extend the lead to 17.
A layup by Ellison Todd cut the deficit to 55-42 with 13:49 to play but
Trent Hinkle hit two three-pointers sandwiched around a basket by Hoffman to put the game out of reach.
IU Southeast dominated in second-chance points even though the rebounding battle was close, outscoring the Pomeroys 16-5.
The different in the contest was on the perimeter as SMWC shot just 4-of-12 from three-point range compared to the Grenadiers' 16-of-35.
The Grenadiers host Kentucky Christian Saturday at 3 p.m. Admission is free on Alumni Day.
