NEW ALBANY, Ind. - Officials of the River States Conference (RSC) announced Monday that IU Southeast senior Brendan Whalen was named RSC Pitcher of the Week.
The announcement comes after Whalen's dominant performance during the Grenadiers' 12-1 win over Rio Grande in last weekend's series finale. Whalen pitched 5.0 innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and seven strikeouts, striking out almost half the batters he faced. Whalen earned the win on the mound, his second win on the season and improved to 2-0 on the year.
Whalen and the Grenadiers will take to the field Tuesday evening in Georgetown, Ky., for a 5:00 p.m. midweek matchup against the Georgetown College Tigers.
