COLUMBIA, Ky. - IU Southeast baseball set a new season-high for runs scored in a game during their 23-16 victory over the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders on Tuesday.
Lindsey Wilson led 9-3 after six innings before the IU Southeast offense came alive in the seventh. Trevor Goodwin homered to left to score the first of 13 runs scored in the top of the seventh. Coulter Hamilton, Kasen Parks, Matt Santana, Kannon Stull, Bryson Arnette, and Alex Schuler all recorded at least one RBI.
The Blue Raiders scored three in the bottom of the seventh, but the Grenadiers negated those two runs with three in the eighth. Stull hit a solo shot to left, then Arnette hit a two-run homer to left field shortly after to make the score 19-12.
Kemper Whisman and Hamilton knocked in two RBIs each in the top of the ninth to make it 23-12. The Blue Raiders scored four in the bottom of the ninth, but the Grenadiers held them off for a 23-16 win.
IU Southeast finished the game with 23 runs on 23 hits. Ten different Grenadiers recorded a hit, led by Hamilton with four. Hamilton also led the team with six RBIs and hit two home runs. Schuler, Stull, Arnette, Goodwin, and Santana all had three hits each.
IU Southeast, now 29-13 following Tuesday's win, will be on the road this weekend for a three-game series against the Midway Eagles. The Grenadiers will play one game on Friday at 3:00 p.m., and a doubleheader on Saturday starting at noon.
