NEW ALBANY, Ind. - IU Southeast women's tennis were bested 4-3 by Hanover College Sunday.
Maci Vaughn and Kate Halbig were defeated 5-7 by Hanover's Cami Crist and Annamarie Stogsdill to open doubles play. The Grenadiers tied the doubles score at 1-1 after Eva Ellis and Libby Banet won 6-1 over Savannah Heist and Madelyn Santner. Hanover would take the doubles point after Reece Smith and Sidney Burton fell 1-6 to Jenny Powless and Lilly O'Neill.
In the singles matches, Banet won 6-4, 6-3 over Stogsdill to tie the match score at 1-1. The Panthers roared back, winning the next two singles matches. Santner won 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 over Vaughn and Heist won 6-3, 6-2 over Halbig. IU Southeast would win the next two matches after Ellis and Burton won over Powless and Crist, respectively. Despite the Grenadiers tying the match score, the Panthers would take the match after Anellah Trujillo lost 4-6, 2-6 to O'Neill.
IU Southeast women's tennis will be back in action on Wednesday for the ITA Regionals.
