NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Indiana University Southeast volleyball team defeated Brescia University 3-0 on Tuesday night (Oct. 6) at home.
The Grenadiers defeated the visiting Bearcats of Brescia: 25-14, 25-15, 25-13.
The IU Southeast volleyball team is now 11-7 (.611) overall and 2-0 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC).
IU Southeast controlled the pace of the match throughout the evening with impressive hitting as a team (.427). With the win, the Grenadiers remain undefeated in conference play with six conference matches left to play this season.
Freshman
Lindsey Mamon (Sellersburg, Ind.) led the Grenadiers with 14 of the team's 44 total kills. Freshman
Shirley Roxanne Acree (Louisville, Ky.) added 12 kills of her own to help lead the Grenadiers to victory.
Senior
Stacey Flatt (Louisville, Ky.) led the team with 38 of the team's 41 assists. Sophomore
Lauren McCartin (Floyds Knobs, Ind.) led the Grenadiers with 15 defensive digs.
Brescia University (2-10 / 2-3 KIAC) struggled hitting throughout the night with a team hitting percentage of .027 in three sets. Jessica Gunn led the Bearcats with four of the team's 15 total kills.
IU Southeast will hit the road on Friday (Oct. 9) to compete in the two-day Asbury College Invitational Tournament. The Grenadiers will play Milligan College at 2 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 9) to begin the first day of the tournament. The Grenadiers will also take on Webber, Lindsey Wilson and Pikeville during the two-day tournament.
IU Southeast will return for a home match next week against local rival Spalding University next Wednesday (Oct. 14) at 7 p.m.
