Grenadiers Blow Past Berea and Union to End Losing Skid

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast volleyball team swept a doubleheader against conference foe Berea and Union College on Saturday as part of the IU Southeast tri-match.

The Grenadiers had no trouble with Berea in the first match on Saturday. IU Southeast (14-10, 6-3 KIAC) defeated the Mountaineers 25-8, 25-6, 25-6. Freshman Taylore Chestnut had six kills in the match. Kristyn Maymon and Sara Schum each had five kills. Senior Lauren McCartin had three aces in the match.

The second match of the day featured the Union College Bulldogs defeating Berea 3-0. Berea is now 2-12 and 0-6 in the KIAC.

IU Southeast played one of its best matches of the season against the Appalachian Athletic Conference-leading Union Bulldogs in the last match of the day.The Grenadiers won the first game 25-19 and they were able pull away in the last two games 25-15 and 25-17. Sara Schum continued her strong play with a 10-kill performance and Katie Johnson had 19 assists. Taylore Chestnut added seven kills for the Grenadiers.

The Grenadiers are back in action at home on Tuesday against Cincinnati Christian. The match begins at 7 pm.
