Grenadiers Split Tri-Match on Saturday Afternoon

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team picked up a KIAC win over Point Park and jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Campbellsville before falling in five sets in Saturday's tri-match.

In the opener, the Grenadiers (15-9, 7-2 KIAC) picked up a hard-fought first set win 25-22 and then lost the second set 25-22, before convincingly picking wins in the third and fourth set (25-14, 25-17).

Sara Schum and Jade Troutman were offensive standouts, tallying 18 and 17 kills, respectively. Meaghen Tompkins added 54 assists and Stephanie Bradshaw had 20 digs.

Campbellsville swept Point Park 3-0 before facing IU Southeast in the final match of the day.

IU Southeast played two quality sets to take a two sets to none advantage, but the Tigers (17-5) put together three dominant sets to pull out the victory (24-26, 21-25, 25-15, 25-11, 15-4).

Troutman and Schum were once against the leaders with 15 and 12 kills. The Grenadiers committed nine service errors in the match.

The Tigers' Rinata Aisena and Kelly Moyer combined for 34 of the team's 60 kills in the match, 21 for Aisena and 13 for Moyer.

IU Southeast hosts Brescia University Tuesday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night. Jade Troutman and Kelsey Davidson will be honored prior to their final match at IU Southeast.
