Harness Leads Grenadiers To 3-0 Win on Senior Day

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Joey Harness scattered four hits in five innings of work as IU Southeast defeated Miami-Hamilton 3-0 to split a doubleheader on Senior Day.

The Grenadiers (25-25) dropped the first game of the doubleheader 9-2. The Harriers scored eight runs in the top of the fifth inning to pull away. Justin Hurst and Mitch Mattingly each had RBIs in the loss.

In game two, Harness shut down the Miami-Hamilton offense and the Grenadier offense was able to produce. The offensive attack was led by the seniors. Senior John Dayton went two-for-two and scored a run. The Grenadiers jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Mattingly scored Dayton who had singled and advanced to second on an error. Mattingly later scored on a wild pitch.

IU Southeast would tack on another run in the bottom of the sixth Dayton singled to score senior A.J. Doyle.

Harness picked up his second win of the season. Senior Carter Sibley pitched two shutout innings in relief of Harness to record his first save of the year.
