NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Jade Troutman had 12 kills and Sara Schum added 10 as IU Southeast defeated Asbury 26-24, 25-23, 25-18 for the Grenadiers' first win over Asbury since August 2009.
The Grenadiers (6-4) jumped out a 10-6 lead in the first set behind the play of Schum, who sparked the attack. Asbury roared back to take a 17-16 lead and eventually led 23-20. Schum was able to tie and Kristyn Maymon saw one of her six kills seal the first set 26-24 for IU Southeast.
Asbury (6-5) looked to be in control in the second set until Alexis Boudavong gave IU Southeast a 17-16 lead and Troutman and Schum combined to secure the second set.
The third set was firmly in control of IU Southeast, as they held leads of 13-7, 16-8 and 21-13. Troutman's kill ended the match at 25-18.
Meaghen Tompkins had 34 assists in the match and Stephanie Bradshaw added 11 digs for IU Southeast.
The Grenadiers host Cincinnati Christian Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
