NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team lost a hard-fought match to KIAC rival Asbury 3-1 on Tuesday night.

The scores were 25-20, 25-15, 21-25, 26-24.

Michala Beasley led the Grenadiers with a career-high 16 kills while Sara Schum added 15. Meaghen Tompkins had 26 assists and Demi Richardson had 19.

The Grenadiers (9-9, 5-3 KIAC) and Eagles were tied 20-20 in the first set before the Eagles closed the set with five-straight points. The Grenadiers dropped the second set before battling back in the third set. They led by as many seven and held on to win 25-21.

In the fourth set, Asbury led 11-1 before the Grenadiers took a 24-23 lead. The Eagles finished the set with three straight points to win the match.

IU Southeast heads to Lindsey Wilson for a tri-match on Saturday. They face Lindsey Wilson at 1 p.m. ET and Bethel College at 3 p.m.
