NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team split a KIAC doubleheader with Asbury on Thursday, winning game one 1-0 and then falling 4-1 in nine innings.

Jessica Leanhart (10-2) pitched a complete game, two-hit shutout to pick up her 10th win of the year. She struck out 11 and walked two batters.

The Grenadiers (22-9, 12-2 KIAC) scratched across the only run of the game in the fourth inning. Brookelyn Visker singled which was followed by as single by Shelby Lucas and an error on a bobble by rightfielder Kendall Anderson allowed Visker to advance to third. Jade executed a perfect sacrifice bunt and Visker scored.

In game two, the Grenadiers trailed 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth when Katelyn Heines doubled to score Lucas who had singled and advanced to second on a groundout.

The Eagles were unable to score in the top of the seventh with no outs and the bases loaded and the Grenadiers went down in order so the game went to extra innings.

After a scoreless eighth, the Eagles struck for three in the top of the ninth. A missed catch by Heines allowed Cassidy Flynn to reach base and Abbie Bowling scored what proved to be the game-winning run. Back-to-back doubles by Hill and Anderson scored the final two runs for the Eagles.
