Grenadiers Dominate Ohio Christian in Doubleheader Sweep

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team sent visiting Ohio Christian to a pair of 11-0 defeats on Wednesday.

The Grenadiers (27-10) got on the board early in game one when Morgan Klosterman hit an inside-the-park home run to center for her first home run of her collegiate career.

The Grenadiers would score seven more runs in the inning, aided by two Trailblazer errors. Cadie Povaleri hit a two-run double, Lauren Klosterman hit a two-run double, Jade Detzer tripled to a score a run and Morgan Klosterman hit a two-run double.

The Grenadiers sent 12 batters to the plate in the first inning.

The Grenadiers pounded out 13 hits in game one. That was more than enough for Madison Ray (7-3) who pitched a complete game three-hit shutout. She struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Cadie Povaleri went 3-for-3 with three RBI and scored two runs. Sarah Richey went 3-for-3 with two RBI and scored a run.

In game two, the Grenadiers scored five runs in the first inning. A misplayed grounder off the bat of Jordan Batliner allowed Haley-Ann Kueneman to score. Later, Elizabeth Roden came through with bases loaded. She hit a double to left which cleared the bases and put the game out of reach.

Jenna Swain (7-3) was dominant, allowing just one hit in five innings. She walked two and struck out seven.

Heines put the exclamation point on the game when she tripled to left in the bottom of the third. The hit scored Keuneman who had singled and Heines scored on a wild throw by the third baseman.

The Grenadiers head to Berea College tomorrow at 5 p.m.
