Grenadiers Fall To No. 4 Marian 90-81

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team was narrowly defeated by NAIA Division II No. 4-ranked Marian University 90-81 on Tuesday night.

Myles Harvey led the Grenadiers with 20 points off the bench, Demetrius Stanton added 17 and Jordan Coleman had 11.

The Grenadiers (4-10) led 41-38 at halftime on the strength of a balanced offensive attack. Demetrius Stanton had 12 points in the first half and went three-of-four from three-point range.

The Grenadiers shot 15-of-30 from the field in the opening half and went 9-of-17 from behind-the-arc.

However, the Knights responded with a 28-8 run to open the second half. Marian was red-hot in the second half, shooting 17-of-27 (63 percent) from the field and 6-of-11 (55 percent) from three-point range.

IU Southeast cooled off as well, making just three three-pointers in the second half.

The Grenadiers cut the lead to 77-72 with three minutes to play but the Knights missed just three free throws in the second half, and four for the game, which put the game away.

Dion Smith had 23 points for Marian.

The Knights (14-0) dominated the bench scoring, outscoring IU Southeast 59-35.

IU Southeast hosts Cincinnati Christian on Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. following the women's game against the Eagles.
