Grenadiers Blast Miami-Hamilton 20-9

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast bats started slowly, but awoke to put 20 runs and 15 hits on the board in a rout of University of Miami-Hamilton Tuesday night.

The Grenadiers (20-10) trailed 8-0 after the top of the third but outscored the Harriers 20-1 the rest of the game. They exploded for six runs in the bottom of the frame, capped off by Trent Simpson's grand slam to right.

IU Southeast added four more runs in the fourth. Logan Coughlin and Grant Anderson each hit two-run singles.

The offense continued to roll in the fifth. The Grenadiers scored 10 runs on seven hits. The key hit came from Jarret Young who hit a bases-clearing , three-run double. Later in the inning, Josh Beams hit a two-run triple.

Brandon Gatz picked up his first win of the season, working one and a third innings of relief. He gave up two hits and one run.

Trent Simpson went 2-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored. Coughlin, Beams and Young each had three RBI in the win. Five Grenadiers had multi-hit games.

The Grenadiers host Brescia this Friday and Saturday.
