NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Five Grenadiers scored in double figures and IU Southeast hit 15 three-pointers as head coach Wiley Brown earned his 200th career win on Tuesday, 103-75 over Midway University.
The Grenadiers (5-1, 1-0 RSC) opened conference play with a bang. They shot 52 percent from the field in the game and 15-of-31 (48 percent) from behid-the-arc.
IU Southeast was led by Demetrius Stanton's 20 points and eight assists. Joe Ferree had a season-high 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting from three-point range. He added eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. Tyler Landry had 14 points and eight rebounds, Robert Sawyer had 14 points and six rebounds and Jacob Mills added 12 points.
The Grenadier bench outscored the Eagles 47-10.
IU Southeast led 37-30 with three minutes left in the first half, but went on a 15-8 run to take a 14-point advantage into the break. Jacob Mills led the way in the first half, scoring all 12 of his points in the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, it was Ferree and Stanton who led the Grenadier offense. Ferree hit five three-pointers in the second half for 15 of his 18 points. Stanton added three more threes and 13 points.
Midway (0-9, 0-2 RSC) cut the lead to 54-43 early in the second half, but Ferree and Stanton responded with a long-range barrage to put the game away.
Every Grenadier who entered the game scored for the second-straight game.
