NEW ALBANY, Ind. – A red-hot IU Southeast offense put the Grenadiers out in front early and they cruised to a 93-62 win on Saturday.
The Grenadiers (2-1) hit nine-three point field goals in the first half and shot 23-of-41 (56 percent) in the first half.
IU Southeast was led by Jamie Johnson, who scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half. Demetrius Stanton and Joe Ferree each had 15 points, with Ferree hitting five threes in the game. Stanton chipped in with a team-high seven assists. Jacob Mills added 10 points.
The Grenadiers outscored the Thunderhawks 37-17 to take a commanding 39-20 lead and led 60-25 at halftime.
IU Southeast forced 28 turnovers in the game and outscored Miami-Middletown's bench 37-10.
The Grenadiers also used their speed to put the game away, with a 14-0 edge in fast-break points.
Jamie Burns had 17 points for Miami-Middletown. Eli Staton added 14 and Cooper Nolte had 10.
