NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team picked up its second-straight five-set win on Thursday, this time over visiting Oakland City.
The Grenadiers (7-6) won 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 16-14.
IU Southeast opened the match with a balanced offensive attack. Katie Fischer had five kills in the opening frame and Mary Dye and Monica Loftus each four.
The Grenadiers led the second set 16-13 before Oakland City went on a 12-6 run to close out the set.
Hannah Joly and Monica Loftus were the Grenadiers' keys offensively in the fourth and fifth sets. The pair combined for 11 of 17 kills in the fourth set and had six out of nine in the fifth set.
Loftus had a career-high 21 kills in the match and Joly added 13. Mary Dye and Katie Fischer each had 10 kills.
Hannah Barker tied a career-high with 56 assists.
Mary Wehmeyer had 14 kills and Ellen Williamson had 12 to lead Oakland City. The Lady Oaks are now 5-5.
IU Southeast visits Cincinnati Christian Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.
