Grenadiers Swept By Asbury Tuesday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The iU Southeast volleyball team was swept by Asbury 25-19, 27-25, 25-15 on Tuesday night.

Parker Andres and Alexis Bassett each had nine kills to lead the Grenadiers. Lindsey Howell and Monica Loftus each added five kills.

IU Southeast (14-14, 8-2 RSC) committed 22 attack errors and four service errors and four reception errors which short-circuited their attack.

Reigning RSC Setter of the Week Hannah Sipe had 30 assists. Kenna Burman and Maddie Jacobi led the Grenadiers with 13 digs each.

Asbury was led by Kayla Morlan's 13 kills while Lizzy Rempel added nine.

After losing the first set 25-19, the Grenadiers and Eagles battled in a tight second set. IU Southeast trailed 21-20 before the Eagles scored seven of the final 12 points in the set to take a commanding lead.

The Eagles scored the first five points of the third set and IU Southeast could make up the deficit.

IU Southeast hosts Midway on Thursday at 7 p.m.
