NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team defeated Point Park in four sets and swept Carlow on Saturday.
IU Southeast (17-14, 11-2 RSC) opened the day by defeating Point Park 25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-11. Parker Andres had a season-high 19 kills for the Grenadiers, Monica Loftus added 10 kills and Alexis Bassett had seven. Hannah Sipe had 43 assists for the Grenadiers and Loftus led the way with 22 digs.
IU Southeast never trailed in the first set and were only tied with the Pioneers once.
In the second set, the Grenadiers and Pioneers were tied at 11 before Point Park closed the set on a 14-8 run to tie the match.
IU Southeast won set three behind the play of Andres who had five kills in the set, including a kill late in the set that extended the lead to 23-21.
Hannah Sipe put the game away by leading the Grenadiers on an 8-0 run in the fourth set to extend the IU Southeast to 20-7. She had two aces and the Grenadiers capitalized on five errors.
Ashley Taylor had 10 kills for Point Park.
Against Carlow, the Grenadiers won 25-16, 25-15, 25-13. IU Southeast led 6-4 in the first set and used an 8-0 run to put the set out of reach. Kelsey Willinger had four of the team's 12 kills in the first set.
In the second set, the score was tied at 10 before a 15-5 run by IU Southeast won the set.
Kelsey Willinger had 13 kills and Alex Bassett added seven for IU Southeast in the match.
IU Southeast closed the match by scoring nine of the final 12 points.
The Grenadiers host IU Kokomo on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The senior night ceremony will take place prior to the match.
