No. 19 IU Southeast Uses Strong Second Half To Pull Away From Harris-Stowe 78-61

ST. LOUIS – The No.19-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team used a strong second half to pull away from host Harris-Stowe 78-61 on Saturday. The Grenadiers outscored the Hornets 48-26 in the second half.

Jamie Johnson and Demetrius Stanton each had 20 points, Kerry Smith added 13 in his first action since February 2016.

The Grenadiers trailed 35-30 at halftime and did not make a three-point field goal in the first half. They also committed 17 turnovers in the opening half of play.

In the second half the Grenadiers limited the turnovers to just seven and began to hit from the outside. They went 6-of-14 from three-point range and shot 43 percent from the field in the second half.

Jared Osborne, David Burton, Lukas Burkman and Austin Sappingfield all scored in their first collegiate action.

IU Southeast forced 36 turnovers in the contest and scored 25 points off turnovers.

The Grenadiers travel to the University of the Cumberlands Tuesday at 6 p.m.
