Box Score 2 RICHMOND, Ind. – The No.20-ranked IU Southeast men's basketball team hung on for a 108-106 win over College of the Ozarks in a high-scoring duel on Friday.
Jamie Johnson led the Grenadiers with 33 points in the contest and Kerry Smith had 27. Lukas Burkman had 12 points, Nick Tinsley had 11 and David Burton added 10 points as the IU Southeast starters all recorded double-figure point totals in the contest.
The Grenadiers (4-0) led by as many as 13 in the second half but the Bobcats cut the lead to 99-96 with 2:28 to play.
IU Southeast trailed 37-27 with about seven minutes left in the first half but cut the lead to 52-48 at halftime.
The Grenadiers outscored the Bobcats 29-15 in the first eight minutes of the second half to take a 77-67 lead.
IU Southeast shot 11-of-18 from behind-the-arc in the second half to help them surge to the lead.
The Grenadiers shot 59 percent from the field in the game and 53 percent from three-point range. The Bobcats (3-3) shot 59 percent from the field and 54 percent from behind-the-arc.
The difference in the game were the 21 turnovers forced by IU Southeast and the 19-14 advantage gained by the Grenadiers in points off of turnovers.
After the Bobcats cut the lead to three, Jamie Johnson hit a jumper and then David Burton scored off of a nice give and go from Tinsley to extend the IU Southeast lead. Kerry Smith hit a three-pointer to give IU Southeast a 106-99 lead and the Grenadiers would hit their free throws to secure the win.
The Grenadiers face the University of Michigan-Dearborn Saturday at 1 p.m.
