Grenadiers Defeat Point Park In RSC Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals

KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team defeated No. 2 seed in the RSC East Point Park University in four sets 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19 in the quarterfinals of the River States Conference Volleyball Championship on Friday at IU Kokomo.

Alyssa Cosgrove had 14 kills to lead IU Southeast and Monica Loftus added 11 while Trinae' Love and Parker Andres each had seven for a balanced attack.

Monica Loftus was also strong in serve-receive as she recorded half of the team's aces with three and had 18 digs which was second on the team. Kenna Burman led the team with 21 digs.

The Grenadiers (26-7) were great defensively getting in lanes to dig and return attacks from Point Park which was crucial as IU Southeast could not slow down the attack with blocks. Five Grenadiers had double-figure digs led by Burman and Loftus. Hannah Sipe had 16 digs, Cosgrove had 15 and Maddie Jacobi added 11.

Hannah Sipe had 18 assists and Cosgrove had 15 for the Grenadiers.

IU Southeast will face No. 1 seed and regular season champion IU Kokomo in the semifinals of the tournament Saturday at 10 a.m. The Grenadiers will make their first semifinal appearance since 2015.
