WILMORE, Ky. – The IU Southeast volleyball team concluded regular season play with a four-set win over Asbury on Saturday.
Monica Loftus had 18 kills for the Grenadiers. Alyssa Cosgrove had 11 and Parker Andres added 10.
Hannah Sipe led the Grenadiers with 20 assists and two aces. Alyssa Cosgrove had 14 assists. Lexie Fisher and Kenna Burman each added two aces.
Kenna Burman led the Grenadiers with 17 digs. Maddie Jacobi and Cosgrove each had 15 and Sipe had 11.
The Grenadiers (25-7, 11-5 RSC) won the first set comfortably 25-15. IU Southeast jumped out to an 8-3 lead and then expanded it to 20-10 before a kill from Jennie Malone gave the Grenadiers the set.
In set two, IU Southeast led 22-20 and then Loftus came through with two kills in the next three points to give the Grenadiers another set point. An attack error by Asbury gave IU Southeast a two-set lead.
Asbury took set three 25-19 but the Grenadiers responded in the fourth set. IU Southeast led 10-7 and then outscored the Eagles 12-7 to take a 22-14 lead. The Grenadiers capped the end of the run with five straight kills.
Alexis Bassett and Monica Loftus recorded back-to-back kills to secure the win.
IU Southeast will travel to IU Kokomo for the River States Conference Volleyball Championship tournament on Friday. Opponents and match times will be announced by the conference in the coming days. Check iusathletics.com for tournament information as it becomes available.
