Grenadiers Push Winning Streak To 12 With Sweep of Ohio Christian

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team extended its winning streak to 12 games with 4-2 and 5-1 wins over Ohio Christian Tuesday.

The Grenadiers (20-10, 12-2 RSC) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning in the first game of the day.

Morgan Keefer led off the inning with a triple to center and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Lindsey Keen as Keefer slid in ahead of the throw home. Later in the inning, Kaitlyn Flowers reached on an error and scored on a RBI single by Ashtyn Sharp, who had two hits and a run scored in the game.

The Grenadiers added a pair in the fourth inning. Kaitlyn Flowers singled and then stole second and advanced to third on Sharp's single. Sydney Seger followed with a two-run single.

Becca Schoenung got the win to move to 8-6 on the year. She worked out of trouble in four out of her five innings pitched and allowed two runs on eight hits. She walked five and struck out two.

Emily Weiss earned her third save of the year with two scoreless innings of relief. She entered the game with the bases loaded and no one out in the sixth and was able to hold the TrailBlazers scoreless.

Ashtyn Sharp and Morgan Keefer each went 2-for-3.

In game two, after back-to-back singles by Kyndyl Olds and Ashtyn Sharp, Sydney Seger hit a three-run home run to left for her fourth home run of the season to lead the team.

IU Southeast added another run in the third when Olds singled and stole second. She advanced to third on a double by Seger and scored on a sacrifice fly from Maggie Lubbehusen.

Starter Emily Weiss (10-4) got the complete game win. She allowed four hits, one unearned run, walked two and struck out two.

Kyndyl Olds, Sharp and Seger each had two hits in the win.

IU Southeast travels to Oakland City Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
