NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team rolled past Oakland City 25-22, 25-16, 25-15 on Tuesday.
Monica Loftus led the way with 15 kills. Alyssa Cosgrove had nine and Jennie Malone added seven in the win.
The Grenadiers (11-2) led 14-12 in the first set when Loftus recorded kills on four of the next five points and Malone got the kill on the fifth point to make it a 19-12 lead for IU Southeast.
Later in the set, Loftus got the kill for set point and then finished off the set with a kill.
In the second set IU Southeast led 10-5 before scoring 10 of the next 15 points to take a commanding 20-10 lead which put the set out of reach.
In the third set, IU Southeast went on a 9-0 run with Loftus serving to take a 19-10 lead. Eventually the Grenadiers clinched the match with a 25-15 win.
Hannah Sipe had 25 assists and Alyssa Cosgrove added 17. Kenna Burman had 23 digs to lead IU Southeast. Kristin Schnorr had 12 kills for the Lady Oaks, who dropped to 3-4.
IU Southeast will travel to Midway University for their next contest on Sept. 18. The previously scheduled home game vs Boyce College on Sept. 17 has been canceled.
