Grenadiers Fall To IU Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team saw its three-game winning streak snapped in a 25-21, 25-17, 25-19 loss at IU Kokomo Tuesday.

Alyssa Cosgrove had 11 kills to lead IU Southeast. Parker Andres and Jennie Malone each added six and Alexis Basset had five kills.

Hannah Sipe had 22 assists and Kenna Burman had 19 digs in the loss.

IU Southeast led the first set 20-19 before the Cougars closed the set on a 6-2 run to jump out to the lead.

The Grenadiers (16-5, 5-2 RSC) hit .128 for the match but IU Kokomo was able to run an effective offense as the Cougars hit .325 in the three sets. They committed just two attack errors in the second set for a .471 attack percentage to pull away and take the set 25-17. IU Southeast had 14 kills to three errors in the second frame but could not overcome the Cougar offensive attack.

In the third set, IU Southeast led early before the Cougars tied the frame and then pulled away late.

Lizzy Sokeland had 14 kills and Kiersten Cooper added 12 for the Cougars.

IU Southeast hosts Rio Grande Friday at 7 p.m. and West Virginia Tech Saturday at noon.
