Grenadiers Earn 20th Win With Saturday Sweep of IU East

RICHMOND, Ind. – Alexis Bassett had 12 kills, Parker Andres added 11 and Alyssa Cosgrove had nine to lead IU Southeast past IU East 25-21, 25-9, 25-23 on Saturday.

The first set was close throughout with the largest lead at 13-8 for IU Southeast. The Grenadiers (20-5, 9-2 RSC) led 23-19 after a kill by Parker Andres but the Red Wolves cut the lead to 23-21. She answered with another kill to force set point and then an attack error by IU East gave the first set to the Grenadiers.

The second set was a dominant performance by IU Southeast. They led 7-3 before closing the set on a 18-6 run. IU Southeast recorded an attack percentage of .393 in the second frame and did not record an attack error. Alexis Bassett had five of the team's 11 kills in the second set to help the Grenadiers pull away.

IU Southeast trailed for most of the third set before tying the frame at 18. IU Southeast took a 20-19 lead after a service error and then Bassett extended it with a kill. Another kill by Bassett forced set point at 24-20 and, after a rally by IU East cut the lead to one, Jennie Malone put the match away with a kill.

Jennie Malone had five kills and five blocks. Kenna Burman led IU Southeast with 17 digs while Hannah Sipe had 28 assists and 16 digs. The Grenadiers hit .282 for the match with 39 kills to just four errors.

IU Southeast hosts Brescia in a RSC West showdown Tuesday at 7 p.m.
