Grenadiers Sweep Spalding Tuesday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Alyssa Cosgrove had 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks and Alexis Bassett added 10 kills as IU Southeast hit .330 for the match in a 25-9, 25-21, 25-15 sweep of Spalding Tuesday.

IU Southeast (16-4) did not record an attack error in the first set and jumped out to a 6-0 lead with freshman Brookelyn Clark serving. Alexis Bassett had three kills in the first four points for the Grenadiers. Alyssa Cosgrove ended the set with back-to-back kills.

IU Southeast hit .600 in the first set, recording 15 kills on 25 attempts.

In the second set the Grenadiers led 10-3 before Spalding used a 10-2 run to take a 13-12 lead. The Grenadiers bounced back with a 7-3 run to take the lead that they would not relinquish. Hannah Sipe had two kills down the stretch to secure the second set.

In the third set, Brookelyn Clark sparked a 5-0 run to start the set with two aces. IU Southeast did not look back, taking leads of 10-3 and 20-10 before taking the match with a 25-15 third set win.

Hannah Sipe had 30 assists to lead IU Southeast to go along with five kills and two aces. Jennie Malone had six kills and two blocks and Parker Andres added five kills.

IU Southeast held the Eagles to a .000 hitting percentage as they recorded 22 kills and 22 attack errors in the match.

IU Southeast travels to IU Kokomo Tuesday at 7 p.m
