NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team concluded its home schedule Saturday with a 25-23, 24-26, 25-23, 25-13 win over IU Kokomo. The Grenadiers defeated the Cougars for the first time since 2016.

Alyssa Cosgrove led the Grenadiers with 17 kills and 21 digs, Alexis Bassett had 16 kills, Parker Andres added 13 and Makendri Fisher had a career-high 12 kills.

IU Southeast (22-6, 11-3 RSC) trailed 23-21 in the first set but a Cosgrove kill and an attack error tied the frame. After another attack error gave IU Southeast set point and a kill by Makendri Fisher secured the first set win.

In the second set, the Grenadiers led 17-16 after a kill by Fisher but they would not lead again in the set. The Grenadiers tied the set at 24 but back-to-back kills by Erinn Adams and Kiersten Cooper won the set for the Cougars.

IU Southeast put together two of its best sets of the season in the final two frames of the match. They did not allow the Cougars to lead in the third set and after IU Kokomo led the fourth set 4-3 the Grenadiers took the lead for good. The Grenadiers hit .375 with just two attack errors in the fourth set to secure the win.

In the third set IU Southeast pulled away after leading 10-8, extending the lead to 17-10. But the Cougars roared back to tie the set at 20. IU Southeast recorded five of the final eight points in the third set. Parker Andres had two kills in the final five points for the Grenadiers.

In the fourth set, IU Southeast used a 17-6 run to put the match away. Alexis Bassett (5) and Alyssa Cosgrove (4) combined for nine of the Grenadiers' 14 kills in the fourth set to win it.

Hannah Sipe had 55 assists for IU Southeast and Jennie Malone had three key blocks in the match to go along with five kills.

IU Southeast travels to Asbury Friday at 7 p.m.
