NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team fell 11-4 and 8-0 to No. 13 Lindsey Wilson on Monday.
In game one, IU Southeast fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first before cutting the lead to one in the bottom of the frame.
Kyndyl Olds led off with a triple to left and Ashtyn Sharp brought her into score with a single. Maddie Probus added a two-run double to score Morgan Keefer and Sharp.
The Grenadiers (6-10) tied the game in the fourth when Kaityn Flowers tripled to center and later scored on a sacrifice bunt, squeeze play by Lindsey Keen.
But Lindsey Wilson (12-0) responded with three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to put the game away. In the fifth, Cassie Matlock had a RBI double and Makea-Al Kaluau had a two-run single.
In the sixth, Matlock had the big blow with she came through with a bases-clearing triple with the bases loaded.
Madeline Probus and Kaitlyn Flowers each had two hits in the loss.
In game two, starters Emily Weiss (IU Southeast) and Annabelle Ramirez (Lindsey Wilson) were locked in a pitcher's duel for six innings. They combined to allow one run and five hits in the first six innings of the contest.
Lindsey Wilson got on the board in the fourth when Zakiya Sizemore singled and stole second. She scored when Kalli Harris doubled to left-center.
The Grenadiers had a chance to tie the game in the fifth when Keefer singled and advanced to second on a bunt but could not bring her around.
The Blue Raiders sealed the game with a seven-run seventh inning. The big blow came when Harris hit a grand slam to left for her third home run of the year. Then Cassie Matlock followed with a home run.
IU Southeast opens conference play on Friday when it hosts Carlow University at 1 p.m.
