Grenadiers Ground Asbury In Saturday Sweep

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team swept a doubleheader from Asbury University on Saturday, picking up 7-3 and 10-2 wins to push its winning streak to seven games in a row.

In game one Kyndyl Olds led off the bottom of the first with a double. She later scored on a RBI groundout by Maggie Lubbehusen. Morgan Keefer would walk and later score in a wild pitch.

IU Southeast (13-11, 7-1 RSC) added three more runs in the bottom of the second. Justice Kline doubled to right to score Kaitlyn Flowers. Kyndyl Olds followed with her second inside-the-park home run to left in as many games to make it 5-0.

Kaitlyn Zillick added an RBI single in the third and Olds recorded her third RBI of the day on a groundout which brought in Reecie Gilliam in the fourth.

Becca Schoenung (5-5) got the win. She allowed six hits and three runs, two earned in five innings. She walked two and struck out two.

Kyndyl Olds had two hits, scored twice and drove in three and Justice Kline was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

In game two, IU Southeast put the game away early with a six-run second inning. Maggie Lubbehusen singled and Maddie Probus walked to open the inning and then Kaitlyn Flowers singled to load the bases.

Ashtyn Sharp came through with a two-run single to center. Then Lindsey Nelson tripled to right-center to clear the bases and Kline followed with a RBI single.

The Grenadiers added two more runs in the third when Sharp doubled and Nelson reached on an error. Justice Kline came through with a two-run double.

IU Southeast ended the game in the fifth with a pair of runs. Maddie Probus singled and then scored on a triple by Flowers and she scored on a RBI groundout by Sharp.

Emily Weiss (7-5) got the win. Justice Kline and Sharp each had two hits and drove in three.

IU Southeast travels to Lindenwood-Belleville tomorrow for a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
