Terre Haute, Ind. – Alyssa Cosgrove and Parker Andres each had 11 kills as IU Southeast swept St. Mary-of-the-Woods 25-17, 25-11, 25-14 on Tuesday. Hannah Sipe had 30 assists and four aces in the match.
The Grenadiers (5-1) hit a sparkling .470 for the match and committed just six attack errors. Delaney Nichols had eight kills, Jennie Malone added seven and Alexis Bassett added six.
IU Southeast led 10-9 in the first set before a quick 6-0 run put the set out of reach. Parker Andres and Alyssa Cosgrove had five of the six points during the run.
In the second set, the Grenadiers jumped out to a 10-5 lead and used am 11-4 run to stretch the lead to 21-9. Kenna Burman recorded an ace for set point and a service error by the Pomeroys secured the set for IU Southeast.
In the final set the Grenadiers jumped out to a 10-1 lead but then SMWC responded with a 5-0 run to get closer. They cut the lead to 13-11 before iU Southeast answered with a 6-0 run to pull away. The exclamation point was a 5-0 run to end the match that was sparked by a kill from Cosgrove and an ace from Sipe.
IU Southeast travels to Centre College Tuesday at 7 p.m.
