NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked IU Southeast softball team defeated Indiana Tech 2-1 before falling to the Warriors 12-8 in the nightcap.
In game one, Payton Robinson hit a leadoff home run to left to get Indiana Tech on the board. It was her first home run of the season.
IU Southeast took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the second. Reecie Gilliam drove in Madeline Probus on a fielder's choice then Miranda Miler singled to score Probus.
Hannah Ogg (10-3) scattered five hits and gave up one run in the complete-game win. She walked one and struck out nine.
Kelsey Warman was 2-for-3 in the win.
In game two, the Grenadiers took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Probus doubled to score Dallas Henderson and Erin Templeman who had each singled.
But the Warriors scored a pair of runs in the third, one in the fourth and blew the game open with a six-run fourth inning.
The Grenadiers (16-6) answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Macie Zink doubled to left to bring in Ellie Jackman and Miranda Miller. Then Henderson singled to left to bring in Zink.
IU Southeast scored one run in each of the final three innings but could not overcome the deficit.
Dallas Henderson went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI. Miranda Miller had two hits and Macie Zink and Probus each had two RBI.
IU Southeast concludes the series with Indiana Tech Saturday at noon.
