No. 22 Grenadiers Sweep Indiana Tech 9-1 and 10-2 Saturday

NEW ALBANY, ind. – The No. 22-ranked IU Southeast softball team swept Indiana Tech and won the four-game series three games to one on Saturday. The Grenadiers defeated the Warriors 9-1 and 10-2.

In game one, the Grenadiers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Kelsey Warman doubled to bring in Ashtyn Sharp who had singled.

Indiana Tech (8-8) tied the game in the top of the fourth inning. Micaela Iacovetti doubled to center and later scored in a throwing error by Madeline Probus.

The Grenadiers put the game away with a eight-run bottom of the sixth inning. Ashtyn Sharp led off with a triple and scored on an error by the rightfielder Karsyn Kitchen who threw the ball away. Kelsey Warman drove in Haley Smith with a RBI single. Madeline Probus doubled to scored Katie Templeman and Lindsey Nelson followed with a RBI triple.

The Grenadiers capped off the inning with three-straight RBI singles. Kaitlyn Flowers singled to bring in Macie Zink, Sharp drove in Jackman and Dallas Henderson drove in Flowers and Sharp with a single.

Hannah Ogg (11-3) got the complete-game win. She gave up one unearned run on four hits, walked two and struck out six.

Ashtyn Sharp was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a RBI. Dallas Henderson and Probus each drove in two and Warman and Probus each had two hits.

In game two, the Grenadiers jumped out to a 6-0 lead with a six-run bottom of the first. The Grenadiers loaded the bases with three-straight singles. Madeline Probus, Lindsey Nelson and Ellie Jackman drew bases-loaded walks. Then Katie Templeman doubled to left to clear the bases.

IU Southeast added a pair of runs in the bottom of the second when Macie Zink led off with a double and Sharp drove her in with a single. Madeline Probus scored Sharp with a triple.

The Warriors scored twice in the third but that was all the damage against starter Gabby Mahoney, who worked all five innings for her third win. She allowed six hits while walking one and striking out two.

Ellie Jackman hit a two-run home run to center in the fourth for her first home run of the year.

Katie Templeman and Ellie Jackman each drove in three. Macie Zink was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Ashtyn Sharp was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and RBI.

IU Southeast hosts Thomas More Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
