Grenadiers Sweep Brescia 9-2 and 11-4 Monday

NEW ALBANY, ind. – The IU Southeast softball team completed a home-and-home sweep of Brescia University on Monday, defeating the Bearcats 9-2 and 11-4.

In game one, the Grenadiers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Ashtyn Sharp tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dallas Henderson.

The Grenadiers (24-10, 4-0 RSC) added a pair of runs in the third on RBI singles by Ellie Jackman and Kelsey Warman.

Reecie Gilliam reached base on a bunt hit in the fourth inning, moved to third on an error and scored on a dropped fly. A double by Henderson brought in Miranda Miller who had reached base on a fielder's choice.

IU Southeast put the game away with four runs in the sixth after Brescia had scored a pair in the top of the inning.

Katie Templeman and Henderson had back-to-back doubles to score Templeman. Ellie Jackman followed with a triple to bring in Henderson and a RBI single by Probus scored Jackman. A RBI single by Warman capped off the inning.

Hannah Ogg (15-7) worked six innings for the complete-game win. She allowed five hits and two runs and struck out two.

Ellie Jackman was 4-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Dallas Henderson was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBI. Kelsey Warman was 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In game two, the Grenadiers trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the second when Ellie Jackman came through again. This time she doubled down the right-field line and Madeline Probus followed with a single. Probus stole second and Kaitlyn Flowers drove in both with a single. Kelsey Warman followed with a double to score Flowers.

The Grenadiers put the game away with four-run innings in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the fifth, Ellie Jackman had a RBI single, Probus followed with a two-run triple and Warman had a RBI single.

In the sixth, Erin Templeman led off with a triple to right and scored on a RBI single by Maggie Lubbehusen. Ellie Jackman had another RBI triple to score Henderson and Macie Zink and she scored on a single by Flowers.

Gabby Mahoney moved to 5-0 on the year as she worked five and two-thirds innings. She allowed four runs on 10 hits, walked one and struck out one.

Ellie Jackman was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI. Kaitlyn Flowers was 3-for-4 with a runs scored and three RBI. Madeline Probus was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI and Kelsey Warman was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

IU Southeast travels to Oakland City Friday at 4 p.m.
