Grenadiers Sweep Asbury 7-0 and 5-3

WILMORE, Ky. – Hannah Ogg allowed one hit in a complete-game shutout win in game one and Madeline Probus hit a clutch two-run single in game two as IU Southeast defeated Asbury 7-0 and 5-3 on Tuesday.

In game one, neither offense could find its footing as both pitchers shut down the offenses. IU Southeast did not record a hit until the third inning when Kaitlyn Flowers singled but did not advance.

IU Southeast (34-12, 14-2 RSC) threatened in the sixth when Dallas Henderson led off with a single. A single by Ellie Jackman and a sacrifice bunt by Madeline Probus moved pinch runner Reecie Gilliam to third but Kelsey Warman popped out and Miranda Miller struck out to end the threat.

The Grenadiers broke through in the seventh. Lindsey Nelson singled and advanced to second on a ground out. She scored on a RBI single by Brooklyn Gibbs. Dallas Henderson followed with a RBI single. Then Ellie Jackman and Probus each had RBI doubles. Then Kelsey Warman and Lindsey Nelson each had RBI singles and Miller scored on an error.

Hannah Ogg retired the side in order in the bottom of the inning for her 23rd win of the year. She worked all seven innings and allowed one hit while striking out 12.

Lindsey Nelson was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI and Henderson and Jackman each went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.

In game two, the Grenadiers scored a run in the second and two in the third to take a 3-0 lead.

In the second, Lindsey Nelson got a squeeze play down to score Probus.

In the third, Kelsey Warman hit a two-run home run to center for her sixth home run of the season.

But the Eagles tied the game with a run in the third and two in the fifth. Olivia Judy tied the game with a two-run single.

In the sixth, Macie Zink singled and Erin Templeman followed with a bunt single. They advanced to second and third on a ground out. Madeline Probus came through with the go-ahead two-run single to center.

Hannah Ogg worked the final two and two-thirds innings of relief for the Grenadiers. Kelsey Warman went 4-for-4 with two RBU and Probus, Nelson and Zink each had two hits.

IU Southeast travels to WVU Tech on Friday.
