NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team defeated Midway University 1-0 and 4-2 on Senior Day Friday.
In game one, Brooklyn Gibbs led off with a walk and scored on a RBI triple by Madeline Probus, the only hit of the game for the Grenadiers.
It did not matter. Hannah Ogg allowed three hits and in seven scoreless innings. She struck out seven, walked one and hit a batter.
Carson Flynn led off the game with a double but was stranded as Ogg struck out the side.
She only faced one other situation with a runner in scoring position when Mary Anders singled and then stole second in the third inning. Ogg got Alyssa Yates to ground out to end the inning.
In game two, the Grenadiers fell behind 2-0 as the Eagles scored in the first and second innings. In the first, Andres reached base on a bunt and stole second. A RBI single by Alyssa Yates drove in the first run of the game.
In the second, Katie Rhodes walked and stole second. She moved to third on a wild pitched and scored on a throwing error Reecie Gilliam.
IU Southeast (41-13, 21-3 RSC) could get anything going offensively until the fourth inning.
The two-out rally started when Lindsey Nelson hit a RBI double to left to score Kaitlyn Flowers. Erin Templeman followed with a game-tying RBI double. Katie Templeman drove in her sister with a RBI single.
Brooklyn Gibbs (8-2) worked the front four innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits. She walked three and struck out four.
Carson Flynn faced Ogg in relief and led off the fifth with a triple, But Ogg got the first out on a sacrifice bunt that did not move the runner and then two strikeouts to end the inning.
Lindsey Nelson led off with a double in the bottom of the sixth. She scored on a sacrifice fly by Miranda Miller.
Lindsey Nelson went 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Kelsey Warman had two hits. Hannah Ogg worked the final three innings for her fourth save. She allowed three hits and struck out three.
IU Southeast concludes the regular season Monday morning at 10:30 am vs Carlow.
