Gibbs and Ogg Combine For No-Hitter As IU Southeast Sweeps Oakland City

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Erin Templeman hit a three-run home run en route to a 10-1 win in game one and Brooklyn Gibbs and Hannah Ogg combined to no-hit Oakland City in game two of a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday.

In game one, IU Southeast Ellie Jackman and Dallas Henderson had back-to-back two-out doubles to give the Grenadiers a 1-0 lead. Kaitlyn Flowers followed with a double but Henderson was tagged out at the plate to end the inning.

The Grenadiers put the game away with a five-run second inning. Erin Templeman hit her first collegiate home run to center, a three-run shot, to extend the lead to 4-0.

Miranda Miler and Macie Zink followed with singles and Jackman drove in Miller with a single. Kaitlyn Flowers followed with a sacrifice fly.

In the third, Ellie Jackman came through again, this time with a two-run single. Then Flowers hit a two-run single to score Madeline Probus and Ginger Funk.

That was more than enough for Hannah Ogg who worked four innings for her 18th win of the year. She allowed one run on four hits, walked one and struck out four.

Ellie Jackman was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Erin Templeman was 1-for-2 with a run scored and three RBI. Miranda Miller had two hits and scored twice and Flower was 2-for-2 with three RBI.

In game two, the Grenadiers scored once in the first and twice in the sixth.

In the first, Katie Templeman led off with a triple to left and scored on a sacrifice fly by Dallas Henderson.

Brooklyn Gibbs (5-1) shut down the Mighty Oak attack for five innings. She did not allow a hit, walked three and struck out five. The only trouble she got into was when she allowed back-to-back walks with two-out in the second but got Misty Merter to strike out to end the threat.

The Grenadiers added a pair of runs in the sixth when Reecie Gilliam stole second and scored on a double by Jackman. Then Kelsey Warman doubled to drive in Jackman.

Hannah Ogg worked the last two perfect innings for the Grenadiers for her second save of the season.

IU Southeast travels to Ohio Christian Friday at 2 p.m.
