Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Macy Graves had 14 kills, Delaney Nichola added 11 and Maggie Purichia had 10 to lead the Grenadiers to a four-set win over St. Mary-of-the-Woods 25-16, 26-24, 22-25, 25-11 on Friday.
The trio also only recorded four attack errors on 82 attempts in the match.
In the first set, the Grenadiers led 10-6 but extended their advantage with a 13-6 run to take a 23-12 lead. Cate Murphy sealed the first set with a kill.
The second set saw the Grenadiers take a 20-17 lead on a kill by Purichia. But the Pomeroys battled back to tie the set at 23 on three-straight kills by Hannah Zuege. With the set tied at 24, Macy Graves came through with a kill and an ace by Lexie Fisher won the set for the Grenadiers.
IU Southeast (4-6, 1-0 RSC) fell behind 13-7 in the third set but were able to rally to tie four different times but could not take the lead. Three kills by SMWC in the final four points forced a fourth set.
The Grenadiers were dominant offensively in the final set, as they recorded just one attack error for an attack percentage of .469.
IU Southeast pulled away with a 14-2 run the close the match. Maggie Purichia had five of her 10 kills in the fourth set.
Cate Murphy led IU Southeast with 25 assists. Lexie Fisher had 25 digs.
