Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team fell to IU Kokomo 32-30, 25-17, 25-12 on Saturday.
Emilee Organ had 11 kills, Izzy Stallard had six and Maggie Purichia added five in the loss.
The first set was extremely tight throughout There were 18 ties in the first set alone. After the Cougars took a 21-19 lead, IU Southeast answered with three-straight kills by Delaney Nichols, Izzy Stallard and Macy Graves to take a 22-21 advantage.
A kill by Stallard and an attack gave the Grenadiers set point, but the Cougars prolonged the set and fended off five set points. They took the lead for good on a kill by Audrey Strawsma and an ace by Maggie Connell won the set.
Emilee Organ had six kills in the opening set and Brandy Eisenback added 13 assists.
IU Southeast trailed 12-10 in the second set but a 7-3 run by the Cougars gave them a comfortable lead that they did not relinquish. The Grenadiers offense was limited in the second, recording only seven kills in the period.
In the third, with IU Southeast trailing 12-11 the Cougars used a 7-0 to put the match away.
Lexie Fisher had 21 digs to lead IU Southeast and Averee Yoder had three aces.
IU Southeast travels to Asbury University Tuesday at 7 p.m.
