Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. – Ella Brooks had 10 kills and two aces while Alexis Franks and Jessi Kramer each added five kills but IU Southeast dropped a 25-22, 25-22, 25-19 decision to IU East on Tuesday.
A kill by the returning Emilee Organ gave the Grenadiers a 14-13 lead in the first set. Two kills and an attack error swung the lead in favor of IU East at 16-14.
After an IU Southeast timeout, the Grenadiers used a 5-2 run to tie the set at 20. Two kills by Brooks and one by Kramer helped spark the rally.
IU East won the set by scoring four of the final five points in the period. They were aided by two attack errors and a pair of kills by Jessica Swimm down-the-stretch.
Another Swinn kill pushed the Red Wolf lead to 12-9 in the second set. The Grenadiers cut the lead to 15-14 but IU East answered with a 5-1 run to put the set out of reach.
The Grenadiers fought off set point four times before falling 25-22.
In the third set, IU Southeast got back into the set after a block by Emilee Organ and Abigail Vogel and another attack error cut the lead to 16-15.
But the Red Wolves scored four of the next six points to take a 20-16 lead. A pair of service errors and a kill by Brooks kept IU Southeast in the match at 23-19 but kills by Kaydence Brewer and Carli Cox won the match for IU East.
Cate Murphy had 15 assists and Hannah Brown chipped in with 10. Jessi Kramer and Alexis Franks led the Grenadiers with four block assists each.
IU Southeast travels to Midway on Friday.
