KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team fell 9-1 to the University of Rio Grande on Saturday, ending the 2022 campaign for the Grenadiers.

Rio Grande (39-13) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second when Caitlyn Brisker singled to left to drive in Lexi Carnahan.

IU Southeast tied the game in the next inning. Ellie Jackman doubled down the right-field line and scored on a single by Brooklyn Gibbs.

The Grenadiers threatened in the fourth when Lindsey Nelson and Erin Templeman each singled, but a fly out and groundout ended the inning.

The RedStorm took the lead in the fourth when a two-out rally resulted in the bases loaded. After starter Meghan Waggoner retired Carnahan and Brisker. A single and two walks loaded the bases.

Taylor Webb was hit by Gabby Mahoney's pitch which drove in Holly Alvoid.

Mahoney was able to retire the next batter and limit the damage.

Macie Zink had a two-out single in the fifth but was left stranded.

The RedStorm put the game away three runs in the fifth and four in the sixth.

In the fifth, a pinch-hit, two-run single by Megan Bazler extended the lead.

In the sixth, Kenzie Cremeens tripled to drive in a run, a run scored on a wild pitch and Brisker ended the game with a two-run double.

Macie Zink had two hits and Ellie Jackman was 1-for-3 with a run scored in her final collegiate game.
