NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team swept Ohio Christian 25-13, 25-20, 25-19 on Saturday.
IU Southeast took a 12-6 lead in the first set on a kill by
Allison Daves. Trailing 13-6, Ohio Christian scored three straight points to cut the deficit to four at 13-9. The Grenadiers responded with a 6-1 run to extend their lead to 19-10. With a 20-12 lead, IU Southeast closed on a 5-1 run to take the first set 25-13.
The second set saw the Grenadiers jump out to a 13-6 lead following a 4-0 run. After a point by Ohio Christian, IU Southeast used a 5-1 run to take an 18-8 lead. Ohio Christian used a 5-1 run of their own to cut the Grenadier lead to 19-13. A 4-0 run by IU Southeast gave the Grenadiers a 23-13 edge. A kill by
Jessi Kramer gave the Grenadiers a 24-15 lead, but Ohio Christian answered with a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 24-20. A kill by
Reagan Ealy gave IU Southeast a 25-20 second set victory.
IU Southeast took a 13-6 lead in the third set as well. A kill by
Ella Brooks made it 14-7 IU Southeast. After an Ohio Christian point, the Grenadiers used a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 17-8. A kill by
Emilee Organ made it 18-9 IU Southeast, but Ohio Christian answered with back-to-back points to make it 18-11. Leading 20-14, the Grenadiers used a bad set by Ohio Christian and an ace by
Cate Murphy to extend their lead to 22-14. The Grenadiers won the third set 25-19 on a kill by
Alanna Wray, clinching a 3-0 match victory.
Allison Daves led the Grenadiers with 13 kills.
Emilee Organ had 11 kills and
Ella Brooks added 10.
Cate Murphy led IU Southeast with 32 assists and three aces.
Abby Ruzanka had a team-high four blocks, and
Emilee Organ added three.
IU Southeast moves to 14-11 overall and 9-7 in RSC play. The Grenadiers travel to Campbellsville University on Tuesday.
