PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The IU Southeast volleyball team swept Point Park 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 on Friday.
Trailing 9-8 in the first set, IU Southeast used a 5-0 run to take a 13-9 advantage. Point Park cut the Grenadier lead to three at 18-15, but IU Southeast scored three straight points to take a 21-15 lead. The Pioneers used a 5-1 run to cut the lead to 22-20, but IU Southeast scored the final three points to take the first set 25-20.
Point Park used two straight aces in set two to take a 13-10 lead. After Point Park took a 15-12 lead, IUS used an attack error as well as kills by
Allison Daves and
Jessi Kramer to tie the game at 15-15. With the teams tied at 16-16, Point Park used a 4-0 run to take a 20-16 lead. IU Southeast used bookend kills by
Emilee Organ and
Allison Daves to cut the lead to one at 20-19.
Trailing 21-19, IU Southeast used a 4-0 run to take a 23-21 lead. Point Park scored two straight points to tie the set at 23-23 but kills by
Ella Brooks and
Allison Daves gave the Grenadiers a 25-23 second set victory.
The Grenadiers led 11-9 in the third set after a kill by
Emilee Organ. Point Park took a 12-11 lead, but IU Southeast used a 6-0 run to take a 17-12 advantage. Back-to-back kills by
Ella Brooks gave the Grenadiers a 20-15 lead later in the set. After a
Jessi Kramer kill made it 21-16 IU Southeast, Point Park scored three straight points to cut the lead to two at 21-19. The teams continued to trade points until a kill by
Ella Brooks gave the Grenadiers a 25-22 third set win, clinching a 3-0 sweep for IU Southeast.
Ella Brooks led the Grenadiers with 17 kills.
Allison Daves finished with 13 kills, and
Emilee Organ added 10.
Cate Murphy led IU Southeast with 43 assists. The Grenadiers had four total aces in the match by four different players.
IU Southeast moved to 11-8 overall and 6-4 in RSC play. The Grenadiers travel to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College on Tuesday.
